Living with Bread & Jam

Life away from home is never easy especially when you are working in a bank. So i left home 2 months back and as soon as i left trivandrum tragedy struck right in the capital city of God's own country. shawarma took the life of many people. the reason behind the tragedy is attributed to food poisoning and post the tragedy if you order a shawarma in any hotel even the waiter would give an astonishing expression. The killer shawarma shook kerala by surprise . it resulted in raids in hotels all over kerala. the hotel owners also showed their resentment by observing strikes and hartals causing trouble to people like us who stay away from home and depending 24*7 on hotels.

But this is not going to dishearten us . people like us have to eat this when ever their is hartal . in a state where every friday could be a hartal people can live with bread and jam also. be it hotel raids or arrest of notorious politicians no one gives a fuck about hartal. i should thank the person who invented bread and jam. it may save a day for u.

Palakkad.. a place to be..

Palakkad is definitely a place to be. In the outskirts of palakkad you can find a lot of beautiful places mindblowing scenaries. But what bowled me over is the hospitality of the people in their especially in places like mannarkad which is far away from the city. my stay in mannarkad was short but was full of memories. The day i joined the office i got acquainted with a gold appraiser who is not even a permanent member of the office. The hospitality i got from his home is second to none. He still is a very close friend of mine. I realised what ' adhithi devo bhava ' really meant. The wonderful thing is that they are sincere and they don't expect anything in return. They welcome warmly and are so warm hearted that i thought earth is not a bad place to live. Barring the unforgiving heat and thundershowers palakkad is a nice place to live.

Confrontation with a chain snatcher

This event took place a few days back when i was returning from coimbatore with my family my mom dad and bro. we were returning after the naming ceremony of my new born neice. my brother's daughter everyone's sweetheart uthara. so were about to board the volvo bus that was parked near the nehru stadium at coimbatore. we were all walking with the luggages in our hands. my mom was a little slow and she was a few yards away from my bro who was third and all of a sudden i heard a scream from behind i could recognise that it was my moms and for a moment i thought she was hit but what i saw shocked me a chain snatcher was pulling the necklace from my mom's neck and was strangling her. i shouted and ran towards him. my brother realised the situation only when i began to run and it was one hell of an adrenaline rush inside me. i sprinted like never before and seeing the ferocious me the thief left my mom and began to run. but he was so slow that i caught hold of him and pushed him towards the barb wire of the stadium and i could hear the cry of my mom . my bro got my mom up. i lost control over my self and landed a few powerful blows on him. seeing that crowd gathered around and a few people helped me by holding the thief they told me he might be having a knife with while i went to check out my mother my brother and few people checked his pockets and they found a bottle of liquor. the crowd was so angry that they also began to beat him like a dog. nevertheless my mom was shocked and a traffic police asked us to file a complaint. soon the police arrived took him to custody and asked my mom to lodge a complaint.

But things were getting tedious as we have to catch the bus by 9.15 to reach home we rushed to get an auto reached the bus stand to catch the bus. thank God we reached the spot on time  but still the police wont leave us they chased us to the bus and interrogated my mom a little more and to write the complaint in a more specific way.it was a shocking experience i never thought i could hit someone like this and that thief will think twice before snatching anyones chain just because he chose the wrong person to rob and some one who has a strong son. i dont want to praise myself but i never thought that i could confront a chainsnatcher like this but situation makes things happen.

Theatres in trivandrum

Being a movie buff i make a point that i watch atleast a movie once in a week in theaters. Usually i have a large collection of movies in my laptop still i prefer watching recently released movies in theaters. I have seen movies in theaters in cities outside kerala but the tickets are much expensive compared to in here. while i admit we dont have multiplexes here but for 50 rs most of the theaters are more than good enough. now i would like to make an analysis of some of the best and worst theaters in trivandrum.

Sri padmanabha: This theater is famous for the screening of the movie titanic which ran a marathon 200 days in trivandrum. The facilities here is outstanding as it was renovated recently and cine actor prithviraj contributed much for its renovation and its one of the top notch theater in trivandrum both in appearance and luxury. its always an experience to watch a 3d movie in Sri padmanabha. I hope all english and 3d movies get released here instead of the athulya theater which is the worst in the city.

New: It is one of the oldest and largest theater with a huge seating capacity. Earlier only english movies get released here but now they are releasing all movies big and small irrespective of the language. it has a huge car parking area and it is a sight to behold when you watch the theater while riding a bike through the flyover at thampanoor.

Kairali & Sree: These are twin theaters run by the kerala govt and has been doing well recently
and screening good movies and kudos to the govt for having the faith in these theaters and maintaining it well despite the theaters being poorly managed in its initial phase.

Now we come to their cousins

Athulya: the worst of all of them.. 'athulya' literally means unmatchable. yes it is unmatchable in being the most worst and pathetic theater in trivandrum and the owners however get very good movies and they show cast it in athulya to make the viewer's experience a horrible one. the highlight of the theater is its insufficient air conditioning and the worstever 3 d glasses ever in the whole of the world making life hell for the viewers. after a string of such pathetic experiences people would automatically stop viewing movies in athulya. sometimes a lot of very good movies release in such poor theatres people think its better to watch it in dvd or laptop rather than wasting it in a theatre like athulya. seriously i dont hold any personal grudge against the theater owners but they make me write uncontrollably and look i m not able to stop myself. and there is only one way to ban such theaters people should refrain watching movies from such theaters and the ratings of the theater will fall down and the owners will be unable to bid for good movies and theatres like sri padmanabha should grab it. i could not watch a whole lot of very good movies like planet of apes, conan, ice age just because i knew i could not bear the heat and torture and migraine of the 3d glasses in the most pathetic theater in the world 'athulya- unmatchable horror terror n pity'

Aswathy: the little sister of athulya the theater looks like a volvo bus from inside and the screen is indeed a tv and they charge rs 35 for one ticket and a person who watches movie in aswathy will remember its name his entire life and will never watch another movie in it. my experience was pathetic. once i bought the ticket and entered the door and i was shocked and 2 students told me.. bro its the theater indeed no need to doubt it and i saw each person entering through the doors having similar shocking experiences. these theaters should be banned.

kalabhavan: recommended for film festivals........ nothing else
