Cocktail Parties

All my life i have been working in marketing right from the beginning of my career. I was a novice in drinking while at college but as we all pass out we graduate to a different level. As the field i am working is in marketing i often attend a lot of cocktail parties. But what we all see in cocktail parties have amused me a lot. I am not against drinking. I am not a teetotaler. Its just that the environment is totally different once such a party kicks off.

There are all kinds of people who attend such parties. Some are more concerned about the amount of liquor. some are more on the food being served. The specialty of such parties is that food is never sufficient enough. There are people who desperately want to be drunken all night. some people mix beer with hot which they say is heavenly once consumed. But i get drunk to have a small kick which is more than sufficient for me. I know my limits and i never exceed the limits which is quite good for health. the people who drink too much behave like worms.. they are often called 'keedams' in local language. They make you come to your senses with their antics. Its quite funny the way they behave. But there are a set of people who drink for the sake of drinking and they drink only stuff like mirinda fanta pepsi and slice just to make themselves feel that they are not apart from these alcoholics. The funny thing is that they get more sentimental than the ones who have consumed the actual liquor. So it is much funnier how you have to see the keedams and teetotalers behaving as if they are the same.

Trivandrum Burning..

I don t know the rest of the places in india but trivandrum is certainly burning and is scorching hot. The rest of the world is not alien to this effect as global warming is taking its stride. Temperatures are soaring high . sometimes when we are at home even the home seems to be a hell even when all the fans are working. It was never like this before in trivandrum. The climate used to be good and comfortable. summers are becoming unbearable. Now a days if you don t have ac at home people prefer to be at office rather than at home even on holidays. No wonder people rush to the theaters to watch movie for the matinee so that at least they can remain comfortable for sometime at the cost of rs. 50 rather than sleeping soundly at home.

This scorching heat takes what all energy one has and people sleep in the noon because of it. many people feel its better to be in a theater rather than to sleep at home. All this trouble is due to global warming. As indian citizens we all should strive to fight against global warming. otherwise it can adversely affect the environment around us. everyone should take interest in planting trees so that it reduces the emission of greenhouse gases. i have visited places which are far away from the city and they are full of trees and greenery. efforts must be taken to make the cities green and clean. Industrialization is one we cant avoid as it is one of the causes of the improving the economic condition of our country. so industrialization and protection of the environment should go hand in hand. Visiting the theater just to be comfortable is the most pathetic situation. no wonder malayalam movies fare well at the box office unlike a few years ago. People are ready to watch even average movies. its just that the theater should be good enough.

Petrol price.. on the rise.. enna koduma sir?

SO the price of petrol is on the up . lagta hai UPA govt jaldi hi upar jayegi uparwale ke paas.. I don t like to be political but this central govt wont spare anyone. scams after scams they are not tired a wee bit. Bofors, 2g, 3g, commonwealth games and now petrol. A few years ago the price of petrol was 45 rupees. but now it is 70 bucks. People are getting crazy about the price rise and are on the rampage. The opposition parties are taking advantage of the situations destroying public properties such as offices and buses all because the price of petrol was hiked by 3 rupee. its not the way to retaliate. here i would like to congratulate Anna hazare for his efforts to pass the lokpal bill. everyone should come forward like anna and help to protect the nation and raise their voice against corruption. when corrupt countries like pakistan and bangladesh charge only 25 rupees for petrol why this discrepancy and corruption should be tolerated?

But the biggest problem is its after effect. It badly affects the automobile industry by affecting its sale. The demand of petrol is on the all time low as people are preferring diesel and LPG vehicles. recently tvs mahindra has launched electric cars. the time is not far away when electric vehicles will flourish in the market. petrol hike was because the govt had its way by giving the private companies to hike the price by its own. its a sure case of scam as lots of money were involved in giving them the rights and making the common man suffer the consequences. Its a matter of utter concern and i give the central govt a big thumps down...

The Mad Bus Driver...

I met with an accident recently and i thought i would not ride bike for a short period of time and i ll travel more in bus plying through my route. A small van sized bus runs the service in my route. Its quite a convenience as i don t have to walk all the way up to the junction so that i can reach my office or the required destination in time. In the mean time i ll listen to the songs in my mobile phone while i m travelling in that bus. Its a pleasure to come back home in that small bus where there is less rush and i get to listen to music while inside the bus.

Everything was going smoothly till one day the cab began to run erratically and i could see the driver applying brakes unnecessarily and driving the cab at break neck speed. He was trying to overtake other buses at perilous speed. The older people in the bus were frightened and they began to throw tantrums on him and abusing him. But the driver is not showing any signs of stopping his antics. After a couple of journey in that bus i realized that the driver is indeed mad. One day even the bikers riding on the road stopped and foulmouthed him. His antics were such that even a saint would get up and slap him. That day i was indeed convinced that either the driver is insanely mad or he wants to commit suicide. I thought i should take suitable measures to get rid of this driver otherwise its like putting all the lives of the passengers in danger.

I was so disturbed that day that i could not concentrate on anything else. I met a traffic police and asked what should i do to file a complaint against this driver and he gave me a number. I suddenly called on to the number and said that the driver is either trying to commit suicide or he wants to kill all the passengers and that an accident can happen anytime while he is driving the bus. The fellow on the other side assured me that he will inform the concerned authorities to take precautionary measures. Guess what i have never seen the back of the driver again and all the travelers were relieved. I was also relieved to save all of them. But i hope it was just one of those horror moments inside that bus. Now i can travel very comfortably. The good old days are back...
