Cashless economy - What is cashless economy? Being a banker it is always an interesting to talk about cashless economy. Working in a primitive bank has always its hazard like dealing with a lot of vouchers, deposit receipts, documents etc. Dealing with cash is always a headache for a banker especially while dealing with a large number of customers. Just imagine what a cashier has to
deal with when he has done over 200 transactions a day. He is almost exhausted at the end of the day. Even top bank officials are concerned about increasing alternate channels in banking so as to decrease the volume of physical transactions every day in a bank. The truth is that actually all bankers are fed up.
Now our prime minister modiji who brought on demonetization has asked the banks to promote cashless banking. He wants us to make use of atm cards, internet banking, mobile banking, mobile wallets, pos machines so that all the money is routed through these alternate channels instead physical handling of cash. Complete cashless banking is not possible in our society as small vendors retailers and individuals all deal with cash. In a country where literacy rate is ever increasing at a rate of 74 % and people are tech savvy surfing through internet using their smart phones all the time cashless bank is not a distant reality by any means. All these youngsters have to do is to spend a
little time learning to use these gadgets , i m sure they spend loads of time browsing throught their smart phone. The main motive to encourage cashless banking is to curb black money. Everything will be accounted in the future. Transaction of money is just a click away from your mobile phone. Cost of printing notes by reserve bank is lessened. It is just disheartening that educated people are opposing cashless banking just for the sake of opposing pm modi just because they are modi haters and they want him to fail miserably. Hence they are arousing the poor people against modi.
All the reasons why a small percentage of modi haters opposing the move to enhance cashless banking is everything is politically motivated.Cashless banking is actually a good move especially which is followed by developed countries all over the world. India is a developing country.
If india has to grow as one of the leading economy in the world it has to do things like this. I m sure educated people will embrace these changes with both hands. Lets hope India will be a cashless economy in years to come.
